The Name Behind the Brand

Chaya is named after our founder's daughter. In Hebrew, Chaya means life — and that's exactly what this brand is about: living boldly, living colourfully, and living with joy.

Our Story

Growing up in Angola, our founder was surrounded by the vibrant colours, bold prints, and rich textiles of African culture. Those colours weren't just beautiful — they were alive. They told stories, celebrated identity, and brought people together.

When she moved to Australia, she wanted to carry that spirit with her — and share it with the world. So she started making accessories by hand, right from her home, weaving the boldness of African design into every piece.

A Family Affair

Chaya Accessories is truly a family business. Our kids are homeschooled and very much part of the journey — from helping with ideas, running markets, to being our biggest cheerleaders. Every piece we create is made with love, care, and a little bit of family magic.

Our Rattan Bags

Our beautiful rattan bags are handcrafted by a small, talented family in Lombok, Indonesia. We partner with them directly, and then add our signature touch — a vibrant African print inner lining that makes each bag truly one of a kind. It's a collaboration across continents, rooted in craftsmanship and community.
